Job Summary:

As a Driver Operations Specialist, you are the “glue” that keeps our terminal running smoothly. You’ll act as a vital link between terminal management, our drivers, and our customers. This is a fast-paced role perfect for a multitasker who enjoys a mix of office-based administration and “on-the-ground” operational support. This position handles a range of driver operation responsibilities, including but not limited to dispatching, load planning, and customer service. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operations & Dispatch Support

  • Keep Things Moving: Build customer orders in TMW and assist with daily dispatching to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Asset Management: Perform yard checks and coordinate with the shop to schedule equipment maintenance (PMs).
  • Communication: Monitor loads in real-time, documenting and communicating any delays to stakeholders immediately.

Safety & Compliance 

  • Regulatory Guardian: Audit driver paperwork and track DOT/FMCSA compliance (CDL, TWIC, and Physicals) to keep our fleet legal and safe.
  • Safety Support: Monitor driver training progress and assist with root-cause analysis for any service or safety incidents.
  • Field Audits: Conduct PPE audits to ensure our team stays protected on the job.

Administration & Engagement

  • Resource Hub: Serve as a point of contact for drivers regarding logs, company policies, and equipment.
  • Inventory Control: Manage supplies for PPE, business forms, and driver essentials.
  • Billing Accuracy: Audit orders for accessorial charges and ensure drivers have all necessary paperwork before hitting the road.

 Skill/Knowledge Requirements:

  •  Industry Savvy: At least 2 years of experience in transportation or bulk logistics is preferred. Familiarity with HazMat or TMW software is a major plus!
  • Tech-Forward: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel is key) and comfortable learning new logistics platforms.
  • Strong Communicator: You can navigate high-pressure situations with a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Detail-Oriented: You notice the small errors in paperwork that others might miss.
  • Growth Mindset: You are eager to learn the intricacies of terminal operations and grow with the company.

 

Education and Experience:

  • 2- 4 years truck transportation industry experience or 4-year degree preferred.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, in office, 5 days a week. Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; rotating on-call duties may be required.

Travel: <15%

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and computer equipment. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).

The employee will regularly and repetitively be required to talk, hear, sit, type, reach and grasp in a typical office environment.

This position may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping or crouching. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds.
